A while back a co-worker sent around a photo of a helicopter that showed the oddest "bent rotor" effect. Our general agreement is that is was due to the relatively slow scan rate of a cell phone camera, and the high speed rotor.
Impressed by this, I snapped a photo of a Dash-8 turboprop with my cell-phone camera and obtained this lovely result:
Yes, I turned on my cell phone in mid flight to take this (my bad). BTW, the prop tips are yellow. That bottom phantom blade looks like it is tearing off. And there are only four blades on a Dash-8 turboprop...
