Finally figured out how to take the AVI file from my camera and convert it to something a little more web friendly. This means I can now make my video clip of the Smash up derby at the Lincoln County Fair available.
It was excellent. I had never been to smash-up derby before, and the kids completely enjoyed the event.
For those not familiar with the concept. The idea is to take 10 cars with big engines in a small area and smash them into each other until only one is moving. The finer "rules" as explained to me are:
Start the cars front against the outer barrier on either end of the arena.
On GO, the cars all back up gently until their bumpers touch.
The drivers are then free to smash the heck out of each other's cars.
When a car is immobile for 30 seconds, it is flagged out of the contest, and no one is allowed to hit it.
The main strategy seemed to smash your back end into other's front ends in order to, hopefully, damage the mechanicals. So without further delay:
