Just before writing my Palm Pilot Modbus Master software, I got up to speed using the GCC tools by writing a game, called "Rounder", which I had to change to "RoundAbout" once I realized that there was a Palm program called Rounder out already for tracking medical rounds.
You can still see a web fossil record of the game by googling for roundabout+palm though you can not buy it online anymore through PalmGear I only sold about 30 copies, and then never saw another penny, as a crack was quickly made available, and PalmGear dropped their "small" sales clients.
So I'll give it away to you, my loyal readers!
Following is an excerpt from the original web site I threw together:
(Now two games in one!)
RoundAbout is a
number sorting game. The object is to arrange the number tiles in order
clockwise. Tapping on the shift clockwise or shift counter-clockwise
buttons rotates the entire chain of tiles. The object is to solve in
the minimum number of moves.
When playing Carousel, tapping on the turntable button rotates the four tiles currently on it.
When playing Across tapping on the slider button causes the top four tiles to trade places with the bottom four.
Selecting the Menu
-Preferences allows toggling sound and animation, changing levels and
selecting game type. The number of moves used to scramble the tiles
increases for each level. Level 1 uses three (really easy) and Level 5 uses 15.
Selecting the Menu
- Low Scores will display the current low scores for each level of both
game types. To reset all of the low scores tap on the "Clear All
shareware. The unregistered version will only allow 20 new games to be
started. You can download and register RoundAbout for $6(US) from
PalmGear. You will need to provide your HotSync user name as shown on
the registration screen.
(You may have to right click this link and select Save-As)
Click here to download RoundAbout.zip (Includes this page)
You can purchase RoundAbout right now from PalmGearHQ for
only $6.00US. Registration codes should be sent within the next working
day. Click the "I want it" button to add item to your PalmGear Shopping
And when PalmGear emailed me with their HotSync Name I would manually generate the key and mail it, along with the .prc file and a note saying thanks.
