Balance of Power was a head-to-head autonomous robotics contest with he play field a standard building stud, an 8 foot long 2x4, that was balanced on a pivot. The objective of the game was to have your starting side of the beam higher than your opponent's at the end of three minutes.
And another panorama, this time from the top of Sulphur Mountian in Banff.
We took the gondola to the top to enjoy the view. The peak directly in front is Sanson Peak (2256m). There is a wooden walkway built by Parks Canada that connects the Sulphur Mountain Gondola Station (where the picture is from) to a stone meteorological observatory built in 1903 that can be seen in the panorama. This was also the location cosmic ray research station built in 1956 by the National Research Council of Canada that operated until 1978.
My new camera, a Canon PowerShot A520 has a setting for panorama pictures. It help you tile a set of 640x480 pics and provides some software to warp the images and create a single picture.
Now an image that is 2430x400 pixels doesn't display well on a screen, so I did a little googling for panoramic image viewers and found a nice free package by a company called ImmerVision that simplifies creating a Java based panorama.
